MediaTek will be Launching a Dimensity 9000 5G with 4nm Fabrication Soon

To all the beautiful people all around the world this is definitely one of the good news to wrap up the 2021 and to begin 2022 with this amazing updates from the MediaTek company.

Before we dive deep into details about the announcements, you should know that MediaTek mentioned that the first smartphones running the Dimensity 9000 will be arriving in late Q1 globally.

Now, the company has just announced its newest 5G chipset, named Dimensity 9000. Undoubtedly it is the first chipset by TSMC that comes with 4nm fabrication.

The amazing Taiwan Semiconductor Company, MediaTek has just made it sure that the new 5G chipset, which is named Dimensity 9000.

So with the use of this great 4nm fabrication, the Dimensity 9000 can also provide an increase in performance but still maintain better power efficiency to avoid wasteful battery consumption.

The Dimensity 9000 Features and Specs

Looking at graphics aspect , there’s a new Mali-G710 GPU with 10-cores. There’s a new raytracing SDK for developers to bring new visual improvements to get closer to PC-level graphics performance.

Also it come with some updated connectivity with Bluetooth 5.3 for the first time on smartphone chips. It also supports Wi-Fi 6E 2×2, is Bluetooth Audio LE-ready with “Dual-Link True Wireless Stereo Audio, and it supports a new Beidou III-B1C GNSS standard.

And for the Dimensity 9000’s ISP (Image Signal Processor) can theoretically capture 4K HDR video from three cameras simultaneously. The company said that by capturing three exposures simultaneously from three cameras, each one going through one of three ISPs, it can process a total of 270 frames per second to output 18-bit 4K HDR video. The ISP also supports camera sensors of up to 320MP.

Don’t forget that it also comes with a 1+3+4 composition where there is 1 Cortex-X2 core with a speed of 3.05GHz, then 3 Cortex-A710 cores with a speed of 2.85GHz, and also 4 Cortex A512 cores with a speed of 1. 8GHz.

Remarkably, this chipset also supports the use of LPDDR5x RAM with speeds of up to 7500Mbps. In addition, there is also a 14MB cache which MediaTek says can increase performance by 7% and bandwidth consumption reaches 25% compared to the 8MB cache they used before.

So therefore, for the GPU, Dimensity 9000 uses Mali-G710 with 10-cores that supports the Ray-Tracing SDK so that application developers can use this support to provide PC-like visual improvements.

To add to that the 5G modem actually complies with the 3GPP Release-16 standard. Although still no mmWave this time around, this modem supports sub-6Ghz 5G with theoretical max download speeds of 7Gbps with 3CC Carrier Aggregation (300Mhz).

Of course definitely it’s also the only 5G smartphone modem to support R16 UL Tx Switching for both SUL and NR UL-CA based connections. The modem also brings improved power consumption for both active and standby 5G connections.

The new APU (AI Processing Unit) supports up to 4X better performance versus the previous generation, and leads performance on ETHZ, an AI benchmark test. MediaTek claims the Dimensity 9000 outperforms the Google Tensor by 16% in AI performance.

Of course this Dimensity 9000 also has an ISP (Image Signal Processor) which is capable of recording 4K HDR video from three cameras at once. Then there is also the APU (AI Processing Unit) which is claimed to have 16% better performance than the APU on Google Tensor.

Some other amazing features supported on this chipset are Bluetooth 5.3, WiFi 6E 2×2, and Beidou III-B1C GNSS standard.

For real, the master plan is that the first flagship smartphone that will use the Dimensity 9000 chipset will be released at the end of the first quarter of next year which is 2022.
