Tottenham vs Chelsea EFL Cup 2022

The Blues, Chelsea hold a healthy 2-0 lead over Spurs going into the second leg of their EFL Cup on Hesgoal Chelsea semi-final on Wednesday.

The Stamford Bridge side dominated the first meeting and arguably could have won by a bigger margin for Hesgoal Tottenham

But as it stands Tottenham are still in this tie and should be capable of producing a better performance in front of their own fans.

Spurs will be without Son Heung-min after he sustained a muscle injury in the first leg.

The South Korean is expected to be hes goal absent for the rest of the month but it is Chelsea who have the bigger injury problems.

The visitors are without Ben Chilwell, Reece James and potentially Trevoh Chalobah due to injury, N’Golo Kante and Thiago Silva have to produce negative Covid-19 tests if they are to feature and keeper Edouard Mendy is at AFON with Senegal.

Both teams capable of scoring

Tottenham didn’t offer a great deal going forward in the first leg but they are a far stronger side at home, and they have improved since Chelsea claimed a 3-0 win in North London in the Premier League back in September.

Antonio Conte’s men have scored in each of their last eight home games and have scored at least twice in all of those fixtures.

However, they have also only managed one clean sheet in their last four in North London and Chelsea have been in good scoring form themselves – having only failed to score in one of their last 23 fixtures across all competitions.
